About this deal

What I am saying is, I loved this huge ass volume. It was everything I expected it to be and more. Everything I look for in a source material. This graphic novel has eluded me for so long, I've been meaning to read it for such a long time, so this felt like homecoming to me. In more ways than one. So the series is basically about about character development. And that's great! But if you do it badly, you end up with a cheap soap opera. And that's what The Walking Dead really is: a mediocre soap opera. With zombies. Even the zombies are kind of lame and serve primarily as an excuse to include mindless action scenes, which do little to break up the monotony of it all. My favorite television series The Walking Dead is not like that. I read the first compendium of the comix it was based on to see if they were like that. They are not. They are full of rich post-traumatic goodness. Er, badness. This is about people who are so messed up by the zombie apocalypse that you realize the title may really be referring to them. Think about it: every zombie story rests on the same basic plot. The dead have risen and a small band of living survivors tries to find safety in a world that is actively trying to kill them. That's it. Sure, the details may vary - fast zombies or slow ones, a cure or no cure, they eat brains or they'll eat anything, trapped in a mall or a farmhouse - but the foundation of the story is the same, and woe betide the writer who strays too far from the formula. Writing a zombie story means agreeing to adhere to a set of predetermined set of rules, which allow only a little room for straying.

This gives up the first 48 volumes of the comic series You can read this compendium or just read them one at a time or there are in-between sized volumes to read. It is a very in-depth series that is worth taking your time through it. Lots of small details in the art especially. it is a gritty style that I am not normally a fan of but in a zombie apocalypse I think I'd be hard-pressed to find better. Robert Kirkman is an American comic book writer best known for his work on The Walking Dead, Invincible for Image Comics, as well as Ultimate X-Men and Marvel Zombies for Marvel Comics. He has also collaborated with Image Comics co-founder Todd McFarlane on the series Haunt. He is one of the five partners of Image Comics, and the only one of the five who was not one of the original co-founders of that publisher.Because of how simple the victory really was for the main group, the Whispers end up seeming like a lesser threat than the Saviors were in Compendium Three. Which ultimately makes a boring story; the reader anticipates increasingly more difficult threats over time. At the end of the altercation, the leader of the Whisperers, Beta, has still not been eliminated. This should’ve indicated the conflict wasn’t over; moreover, that it had only just begun. I honestly have mixed feelings about this. There were so many characters, cardboard cutouts, that faded in and out of the story. I could barely remember names of some of these people - oh, no worries, he/she is dead now! WHEW! The fourth and final compendium continues The Walking Dead's hot streak of compelling storytelling it's been on since the end of the second compendium. Character development is yet again the centerpiece of the story as characters mature beyond their "do what you need to do to survive" worldview and towards establishing society again, with a focus on society. This also gave a nice not so little tangible form to a beloved show, an event really, that I love watching with my other brother. Makes me happy.

I liked Sherry trying to overcome Alexandria, as a mean of Negan making clear that he changed and he knows that when he was in charge things were totally shit. But I didn't like the last issue with the giant time-skip. That ruins a bit the magic. Seeing everyone old, doing their things, the walkers becoming circus animals, Maggie's son becoming a spoiled brat, and Carl's trial were pretty uninteresting. I didn't care about that, why show me? I like the concept. I like the dark no-one-is-safe atmosphere. The art is fittingly bleak and gritty, if not particularly inspired. Many thanks to my brother Michael for knowing I would enjoy this, and I look forward to watching the AMC television adaptation.

This last compendium ends the Whisperer arcs and starts (and ends) the last arc of the series, the Commonwealth arc. In Kirkman’s letter at the end of the final compendium, he states that he didn’t want the reader to know the ending was coming. He spoke of his own experience with films, saying that he disliked the feeling towards the end, when everything is winding down. While I understand this sentiment, I believe there are tactful ways to complete a story without dragging your reader through a long and boring conclusion. The ending of this series leaves much to be desired. das Ende, das im Nachwort erwähnt und als schlecht abgestempelt wird, hätte ich ziemlich gut gefunden Ammo is scarce, so that’s why that being able to shoot and doing it with precision becomes a vital skill where, Andrea, a young blonde woman, is showing to be the best shooter of the group. In our society, you never would want to go prison, but in an apocalyptical dystopia plagued with zombies, a prison would look like the logical choice. They are, though. Zombies have no real motivation, they have no goals other than to kill all humans. They are mindless, a kind of twisted force of nature whose great terror lies in their sheer numbers and their unstoppability. As a concept, zombies are interesting, and as a symbol or a metaphor there's a lot you can do with them, but the zombies themselves are kind of dull. They lurch about, slowly decaying, looking for people to devour. No one ever made a best-selling book or a hit movie with a zombie protagonist. [1]

Okay, I'm going to say this right up front, and everyone can get as huffy as they'd like: it's all true. Villains will rise, heroes will fall. Characters that you have been thinking that they are irrelevant will prove their value in key moments of survival. But don’t you get mistaken... Oh. My. God. I can't even. My feels are completely broken after reading this.. How can I possibly wait until MONDAY to get my hands on Compendium 2? EVERYTHING I LOVE DIES. It's like, I heard some of these things were going to happen, but WHEN they happened I couldn't help but cry. You just have to realize, this world needs people who are willing to stand up and do the right thing... It needs them so badly, it'll forgive you if you're sometimes wrong. You need to just make sure the losses don't discourage you... because the people around us... they'll always need the wins." auch wenn ich mich jetzt unbeliebt mache: das Ende (also genauer der Epilog) war ja nicht meins, da es gefühlt so gar nicht zum Rest der Reihe passtLike George Romero, creator of the iconic Living Dead movies, Kirkman has a lot to say about American culture as well. At first, his message seems tailored to the individualist doomsday prep mindset: "In a world ruled by the dead, we are finally forced to start living." I have a hard time believing that a post-apocalyptic world is better than one with readily accessible food and medical care. But there is something to be said for self-reliance. I have nothing but admiration for people who can build their own houses (I can handle basic maintenance, but that's about it).
