About this deal

I think my expectations were definitely high for both of these books. The first because of the blurb, and the second because of the other books I’ve read by this author. To be fair, I think Missing Molly was one of her earliest works. As you said, they can’t all be home runs! Additionally, the unforgettable characters and their haunting journey reminded me that secrets may reside behind every closed door, and the power of empathy and vigilance can make all the difference in uncovering the truth and protecting those in need. Everybody wants to live on Hogarth Street, the pretty, tree-lined avenue with its white houses. The new family, The Wests, are a perfect fit. Katherine and John seem so in love and their gorgeous five-year-old twins race screeching around their beautiful emerald-green lawn. All her books are riveting reads with another two books that readers might want to read first, The Nowhere Girl and The Life She Left Behind. Some secrets should never see the light of day, and as far as Rachel is concerned, whatever happened to little Molly is one of them. Rachel has a life now, a boyfriend she loves and a three-year-old daughter she adores, and she will do anything to protect them.

NT: In this book, The Family Across The Street, the heroine Katherine West has a wonderful new start. Yet, she does not want to be cut out of her older child’s life. She is very much a mother who is trying to do her best. Nicole Trope went to university to study Law but realised the error of her ways when she did very badly on her first law essay because-as her professor pointed out- ‘It’s not meant to be a story.’ She studied teaching instead and used her holidays to work on her writing career and complete a Masters’ degree in Children’s Literature. After the birth of her first child she stayed home full time to write and raise children, renovate houses and build a business with her husband.Terrifying, Nail biting, and Fast-paced, this story opens when THREE gunshots are heard from the home of John and Katherine West, where they live with their 5 year old twins, George and Sophie-a family of FOUR. Her journey from studying Law to pursuing a career in writing emphasizes the importance of following one’s creative instincts. The idea for her first published novel, The Boy under the Table, was so scary that it took a year for her to find the courage to write the emotional story.

The story revolves around the Wilson family, who move into their dream home on Maple Street. They are immediately welcomed by their new neighbors, the seemingly perfect and friendly Crawford family. However, as the plot unfolds, it becomes clear that there is something sinister lurking beneath the surface of this picturesque neighborhood. This one ended up being a big disappointment. It was interesting and well written, telling the story of a day in Sydney from different viewpoints about a home where things just aren't right. It kept my interest even though it dragged through this long hot day, but by the end it became a dogs breakfast. Omg! Omg! ... My son came in and asked me who I was yelling at?! (I was yelling at my e-reader) . I think my heart beat out of my chest … The suspense was killing me! LOL my heart is still beating crazy! … OK I have to go now, I need a big glass of wine to calm down! ’ Ana’s Attic Guest Reviewer , ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

On Hogarth Street, an affluent area in Sydney, Australia, a few concerned neighbours and a delivery driver are horrified when shots ring out behind the closed doors and blinds of number 24. The husband and wife, John and Katherine West and their 5-year-old twins, George and Sophie, who live there, have endured a terrifying day, and it’s all about to end shortly. Gladys is an elderly neighbor who becomes suspicious of the West and takes it upon herself to investigate their secrets.

Katherine thought today was going to be a normal day. Reeling from a fight with her husband, she gets her twins dressed for school. The doorbell rings. A man she knows all too well has a gun and is determined to have his voice heard. As the day plays out, we meet the nosey neighbor and delivery man. Both know something is wrong at Katherine's house. The blurb of the first book caught my interest, but after reading your review, I’ll skip that. one. I have a Natalie Barelli book (The Housekeeper) on my TBR and I’m looking forward to reading it. Sophie is one of the twin children of Katherine and John. She is an innocent victim of the abusive environment at home. George West Gladys was worried – should she call the police? Lou thought she was making a big deal out of nothing: ‘don’t interfere woman’. Logan wondered if he should go to the police, but he wasn’t sure if he was brave enough to enter the station. What would be the outcome for the family across the street?Sometimes, the most perfect families are hiding the most terrible secrets. How well do you know the people next door? Omg! Omg!... My son came in and asked me who I was yelling at?! (I was yelling at my e-reader). I think my heart beat out of my chest… The suspense was killing me! Maybe I've grown extremely hard to please having read so much (and so much better) in this genre, but this was honestly nothing special. It was easy to put down and predictable besides. About the only thing I got wrong was the identity of the antagonist, and that reveal didn’t really matter all that much because by then, I’d stopped caring.
