Larry-Boy: Oh my goodness. That was amazing. Dave was just a teeny little guy, but he beat Goliath who was the biggest, strongest guy they'd ever seen! Oh my! I laughed, I cried, it moved me, Bob.

David's sheep bear some resemblance to the sheep that appear in the Wallace and Gromit short "A Close Shave."On a similar note, this is also the first episode to show all male characters but not female ones (not counting Lisa Asparagus' appearance in the VeggieTales theme).

On a similar note, the Arabic dub replaces Love My Lips with The Hairbrush Song, due to Are You My Neighbor? being denied from release in the Arab World for controversial reasons involving its lesson in loving your neighbor. Bob: No, it doesn't mean that we can just do whatever we want to do, it means that anything that God wants us to do, we can do! Goliath was ready to fight. The Israelites watched as Dave stood up for Goliath, and one of his brothers fainted. He shot one of the stones out of a slingshot and it hit Goliath in the forehead. He fell down, dead. Except Dave, who stood up, feeling sad, the Israelites cheered for joy, throwing their hats in the air, and the Phillistines ran and hid in their tents. Soon the Israelites approached Dave with joy, realizing little guys can do big things with God's help and support, and bidded Dave farewell. Bob: (Narrating) By the time Dave's brothers arrived at King Saul's camp, battle lines had been drawn between the Philistines and Israelites, and as the custom in their day, the armies lined up and yelled at each other. This is the only TV appearance of Goliath. He will appear again later in the book titled, "How Many Veggies?". Singers: 🎵 You see we know that God's word is for everyone, and now that our song is done, we'll take a look 🎵 During this part, as Archibald draws Larry with frozen lips, his aunt with a beard and the fire department freeing his lips from a gate, smoke rises from his notepad as he rapidly draws.) In the scene where Larry-Boy is eating popcorn and talking to Bob about the story, there's a piece of popcorn on Larry-Boy's helmet. Phil Vischer stated on the DVD commentary that it was his idea as he thought that it'd be funny, but no one found it funny at all.

Goliath makes a brief appearance in Josh and the Big Wall!, having a cookout with his family in the Promised Land, but unfortunately scaring away the Israelites who arrived there. Larry-Boy: (Off-screen) Danger lurks in the big city, disaster waits in every dark alley, peril behind every park bench! The world needs a hero! But not just an ordinary hero, no! A special hero! The first episode not to have Mike Asparagus, Laura Carrot, Grandpa George, Mr. Nezzer and Mr. Lunt since their debut appearances. Bob: (Narrating) Now Dave got to King Saul's camp, just about the time Goliath was going to come out, so all the Israelites were hiding.

Did we miss something on diversity?

The sheep were the first animals made. The snake and whales from "God Want Me to Forgive Them?!?" don't count. As of DVD releases, the original master of the episode (with darker picture brightness) is still on the Heroes of the Bible! Lions, Shepherds and Queens (Oh My!) DVD. This episode's the only episode where Larry's not part of the main plot (not counting A Snoodle's Tale, Abe and the Amazing Promise and the original storyreel of The Penniless Princess), he just appears on the countertop with Bob. (Don't worry, he's still Larry-Boy.) Phil Vischer as Bob the Tomato, Archibald Asparagus, Pa Grape, Jimmy Gourd, Tom Grape, Goliath and the Silly Song Announcer
