If you’re looking for a safe and professional fitting service, head down to your local Autocentre today. The heat shield wraps around the back box and there are two hex nuts/washers to upper left of tailpipe. That link did not work for me, but, I'd give normal thickness washers a miss, as I said you need a piece of thin sheet tin etc, like a piece cut from a tin of peas/beans etc, originally the hole through the heat shield will be just a bit bigger in diameter than the stud, it will always end up expanding and still being circular due to the shape of the steel retainer below it, I've been there done that on a couple of cars and I'd doubt that your car will be much different, that is always going to happen with time and moisture. Apply tiger seal to car body and exhaust shield, and push a ‘washer’ over the stud with a small amount of tiger seal. uk/itm/VW-AUDI-POLO-GOLF-PASSAT-UNDERTRAY-UNDER-ENGINE-WASHERS-BONNET-INSULATION-COVER/190889268876?

I took off the lower exhaust manifold heat shield and removed the metal flanged sleeves that the bolts go through. The shield corrodes around where it contacts the clips and you end up with a big hole around the clip – galvanic corrosion I assume. If it's the former, just make a plate out of anything you like with a small hole in the middle and sandwich the heatshield under/above that. Some of our partners may process your data as a part of their legitimate business interest without asking for consent. We also supply OEM parts, including DPF sensors, diesel particulate filters, catalytic converters and Lambda sensors. There is no difference in these to the genuine VAG ones that came off, from a thickness and quality perspective. I've bought the smaller thicker ones recently but that was only to fit one in a position that VW did not find the need to, the springy/flexible larger ones I've used for years on my older cars, nowadays these are only used to secure heat shields, their use in lower temperature locations has now been stopped and plastic nuts have replaced them in newer cars. So after initially pushing the washers on, can rotate them through one of the slots to tighten slightly. Due to the "anti freeze salt" they use on the roads during the winter (Norway), this top layer of rust on the exhaust is a familiar sighting.

To find the right exhaust accessories, enter your registration number or select your vehicle from the easy-to-use menu and you’ll see all of the exhaust spares we carry. These two types of clips are different for many reasons, they are intended to be used for different purposes, the smaller thicker ones are only used for securing thick and heavy sound proofing, the bigger thinner and more flexible ones are or as time goes on, were used for securing heat shields and plastic undercovers.
